Surya NamaskarSun Salutations
|
In the Ayurvedic tradition, Sun Salutations or Surya Namaskar, is the yoga practiced each morning to enliven the spirit, wake the senses and bring calm and balance throughout your day. When practicing Surya Namaskar, it is important to tune in to your body and be aware of your breath in each pose. If you find breathing is difficult or the breath is held, rest or let up on the pose. Remember to coordinate your breath as you move into each pose. Expand your chest on the inhale and contract the belly in a bending motion on exhale.
It is recommended to practice this series of poses in succession 12 times before breakfast. Remember, if you feel tired or strained - simply rest.
